The Izumo Culture and Folklore Museum was opened in 1991 as a place of recreation and relaxation where visitors can experience the history and culture of Izumo, while preserving the traditions of the Izumo region that are being lost in this day and age.
Surrounded by the Tsukijimatsu Pine （, which is unique to the Izumo region, the main house, row-house gate, and garden of the Ezumi （ family (a large landowner in the Izumo Plain) have been relocated, and the Dokurakuan （, a tea house used by Lord Matsudaira Fumaikou ）, is located on the site. Dokurakuan ）, an open-air tea room, Shorai-tei （, a tea room in a modern sukiya-style building, facilities for displaying cultural assets and art works, and a soba noodle restaurant are also available.
In addition, the Izumo Culture Workshop, where creative activities can be conducted, and the Enmotsu Koryukan, a multi-purpose facility, are located on adjacent land, offering an even wider range of services.
